Nuremberg. The second race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany at the Norisring held several challenges in store for CV Performance Group X JP Motorsport. On the tight street circuit in Nuremberg, the high-caliber GT4 series once again met a strong field as part of the DTM. In front of sold-out grandstands and a total of 118,000 spectators, Jonathan Engström and Kyam Potez had to start from the back of the pack in their Mercedes-AMG GT4 following difficult qualifying sessions, but showed a clear improvement during the races.
The weekend began with a setback for the driver duo on Saturday. Following a tire puncture in the first qualifying session, a problem arose regarding tire allocation. As a result, both qualifying results were disqualified, forcing the CV Performance Group X JP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 to start both races from the back of the field.
Kyam Potez, however, did not let the difficult starting position rattle him. The young Slovenian got off to a strong start and gained several positions in the opening phase. As the race progressed, he worked his way steadily through the field and handed the car over to Jonathan Engström in 13th place. The Swede then brought the car home cleanly through the second half of the race, securing a respectable result for the team despite the difficult starting position.
On Sunday, the situation was once again challenging due to starting from the back row. This time, Engström took the start and initially found himself in several duels within the dense field. On the Norisring, which hardly forgives mistakes due to its tight walls and hard braking zones, the Swede remained calm and kept the car within striking distance of the group ahead.
After the driver change, Potez took over the Mercedes-AMG GT4 and continued the charge. With consistent lap times and a clean final phase, he brought the car home in 13th place once again. With this, CV Performance Group X JP Motorsport finished both races in the midfield despite the difficult circumstances and gathered important insights for the remainder of the season.
The development of both drivers was particularly positive. Both Engström and Potez showed visible improvement over the weekend and demonstrated strong pace in the races. CV Performance Group X JP Motorsport continues from July 24th to 26th at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, where the third race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany is on the schedule.
