Charles Dawson and Emil Gjerdrum have won the title in the Pro-Am class of the GT4 Winter Series in a CV Performance Group Mercedes-AMG GT4.
It has almost become a tradition for the CV Performance Group to compete in the GEDLICH Racing series in Portugal and Spain during the winter months. This year, the racing team competed in the new GT4 Winter Series for the first time. Charles Dawson and Emil Gjerdrum contested all six race weekends in one of the team’s Mercedes-AMG GT4s. In the final third of the season, the team entered a second car, driven by Alex Connor with Lachlan Robinson and Michal Makeš respectively.
After the six race weekends with three races each (two 30-minute sprint races and one 60-minute race with driver changes), the CV Performance Group can celebrate a title win! Briton Dawson and Norwegian youngster Gjerdrum won the title in the Pro-Am category of the newly founded racing series, which regularly impresses with exciting and spectacular races.
The duo secured one class win each in Estoril, Portimão, Jerez and Motorland Aragon on their way to the title. A further ten podium finishes for the team underline the consistent performance of the two drivers over the past two months on the Iberian peninsula.
At the Aragon circuit, which has become famous for its MotoGP races, Alex Connor and Lachlan Robinson also finished third in the Pro class in the one-hour “Endurance” race. Before Connor and Czech rider Michal Makeš were unable to deliver their usual performance in the chaotic season finale in Barcelona, which was heavily rained out in parts, for various reasons.
“For us, the GEDLICH Racing series is always a good opportunity to prepare for the summer season under racing conditions and to test different drivers in race conditions,” says CV Performance Group Team Principal Christian Voß. “For us GT4 teams, this is a good racing series to prepare for the upcoming tasks and to contest high-calibre races in the winter months! We’re delighted that we can round this off with a title win.”
The exact racing programme and the CV Performance Group drivers for the programme in the summer months will be announced by the racing team at a later date.
